wow! That blade and that hilt! Gorgeous! Is it a double fuller or maybe fuller abd hollow ground? This is the plan for display of my argentines It's similar to the Wilkinson style blade, single fuller both sides with a spear point. I have the trooper version which I believe is the identical blade and it handles beautifully.
Great looking display! It must feel good having both officer and troopers complete together. I still swing the officer around multiple times a week.

So how is a saber with a single ring scabbard worn? I cannot find decent pics.

My bad, the real term should be Celluloid until 1909 and from then: Bakelite. Indeed after 1910 a brass dovehead hilted sword officially replaced the 1898 officer model, meaning the specimen you'll receive is more than 100 years old. Celluloid you say. I've read gutta percha was used for some, but not celluloid. I should be able to discern the grip material on mine once I get it- it's an interesting sidenote about the sword (to me at least lol). Now I know which options I have to check for. What about the trooperd sword? Given that you mentioned they no longer saw service since the 1950's, but the presidential guard still carries them, how does one date their sword? Is there a catalogue I can check? Perhaps some methodology to the serial number? My trooper is numbered 2721 (My officer 1496) Always curious to find out more about them/their age.

Oh WOW! That...is...awesome.
My loving wife would maim me...it would be bad. But sooo tempting. Low numbers, not decomissioned...great shape....
I'm wondering about the scabbard, would request more pics, just to minimize surprises.

Thanks for the heads up. It’s kinda hard to tell the grease from the rust. Still, seems to be in good structural condition. Good price, too!

It’d be really cool if a company made repro Argentine cav swords. I’d definitely buy one to compare it to the original that I have
