Hi everyone,
This is a quick shout out for advice on hafting the Dane Axe that features in my other recent thread.
The vendor suggests a haft of 3.4cm thickness. This is pretty much the same as a builder's shovel or pick handle. I'm aiming for 120-130cm in length as this seems pretty accurate historically for a fighting weapon.
I have zero experience with this type of thing so any advice as to how to go about sourcing, attaching and securing an appropriate haft would be appreciated.

Ack, sorry, I meant to give some ideas. Now much of this is my personal experiences. I found 2 basic ways. All can be found in many places, but youtube is your friend. First, choose a wood. I like ash and hickory. But I'm doing my lance with rattan.... So there's really 2 methods. You can cut a board to shape and fit it. Or...the harder one. Split the wood so it follows a straight grain to make the haft. Now shaping and fitting, wow, there's lots, look for guys rehafting hammers/axes etc.
And of course, keep the questions coming!
