Anyone have a recommendation for a wushu-oriented (i.e. floppy and dull) jian I could use for competition and practice?
Adam Hsu's Wushu Jian is pretty much unavailable at casiberia, and Kult of Athena doesn't seem to carry them. I haven't been able to find one anywhere else either.
I'd also kind of like to branch out from hanwei anyways, as most of the other guys in my school have them and I don't want to lose it or get it mixed up with theirs. It would also be a good opportunity to test other waters.

Hi Hilary, Hanwei isn't the best choice to search for a good competition jian. If you're in the USA i would say go to here www.kungfudirect.com/categories.asp?cat=11These swords have a great balance and you have them in different lengths.. Dave

hey, they're pretty cheap too.
If you don't mind my asking, what styles do you practice with them and how long have you used them? I know a lot of the guys in my school have had problems with competition swords getting serious bends at the percussion after xing-yi routines because of all the fa jing that snaps the blade really hard.

I would recommend them for the real traditional styles but a good competition sword is made of carbon steel and doesn't snap so easy like to cheaper $30 chrome swords.. Practising shaolin for over 10 years and not 1 of them broke untill now... Dave
