Hello all,
I've been interested in getting an accurate bronze sword replica for some years now. I've been trying to get a piece by the famous Neil Burridge but I've had no luck, in no small part due to the pandemic.
I stumbled across another bronze sword maker named Ørjan Engedal and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of his pieces.
His website:
Thanks!

I have several bronze commissions from Ørjan Engedal as well as a half dozen swords from Neil Burridge. The quality is the same. At the moment I have a large 20 unit bronze order with Mr. Engedal, very high accuracy sauroters, which Neil was not interested in making. Both work with high accuracy bronze alloys (tin and copper), but if you are willing to accept aluminum bronze Viking Bronze on Etsy will work with you and your design until you are happy.
Why is Engedal less well known that Burridge? Neil's been a around a long time, is a bit of a character, speaks English and not only makes swords, he is interested in spreading knowledge of bronze sword making as widely as possible. Ørjan is certainly not unknown, but is not a native English speaker and seems a bit more reserved. Both are committed to their craft.

Do you know if Mr. Engedal does custom pieces?

"Do you know if Mr. Engedal does custom pieces?" From what I know of him he will try to replicate any bronze historical sword. I think he'd balk if you asked for a piece outside the realm of what we know. There's a niche market on "biblical swords" some of which are close to historical artifacts and some are what folks think an angel would wield.
If you are interested in Chinese or South Asian swords...well I'd also like to know who makes those, lol.
What type of sword are you interested in?

I was hoping for a long Naue Type II, the 70cm version Neil Burridge makes. Orjan Engedal makes two models of Naue Type II but not the one I was looking for, so that's why I was asking for custom work.
So if Mr. Engedal is only interested in making historical replicas I imagine my request would fall under that category since I believe Neil's 70cm version is based on a find from Hungary.
Edit:
South Asian I'm afriad I do not know.

Ørjan Engedal <engedal@gmail.com>
Send him an email and let us know what he says.
He does not list a bronze sauroter on his website, but he still took my commission as it interested him.

So did you make contact??? Sorry for the late reply. Not yet, things have been really weird in life the last few weeks (inlaws moved in) and I've also found my budget limited. So I figured I'd ask him only when I'm actually able to shell out the cash.
