Looking for something with Niku that would be in stock without a long wait time. Not sure of the quality you are looking for, but you could always email Hanbon Forge and ask them if they do that. I THINK the Swords of Northshire orJakoo does, but they're also a bit more expensive overall. Sales@HanbonForge.com

Alas, that nice niku Huawei is "pre-order" which translates into "that sword does not currently exist, but we can make it for you if you pay at least half down and can wait some months". A friend has a Huawei order in....I think it has been about 7 months now...still not done. Pretty much just a production model with a full rayskin tsuka wrap. Nothing exotic. Jkoo (Sinosword) used to get a custom order out in about 2 months. Now seems 3 months. But looking at the site, they do seem to have a lot of completed swords in stock. www.sinosword.com/Jkoo swords run from about $200 to $600. Decent stuff. But in my experience with their custom work, if I ask for 10 specifications, Jkoo gets 8 to 9 out of 10 correct. So that's the negative. The positive is that they back their work pretty good...but I only speak for Jkoo custom work, not their in-stock production swords. I normally order niku. Kind of optional for any mono DH T10 or 1095 sword, but IMO, any folded type blade should be niku due to the softer steel of a folded blade. Non-niku folded blades with a thin, razor edge of softer steel as folded steel blades are, get edge rolling easier.

Best to check the Huawei often as they do have some ready to go. Two weeks ago they had the heavy niku in stock.

I will mention selling used between Huawei and Jkoo. Jkoo is a slow mover on eBay. Huawei will usereally sell withing a few days, where as Jkoo it make take months to sell. the one and only Jkoo I had I ended up giving it away to a family member.
So yes Huawei is well worth the wait.

I just happened to take a pic of the blade of a Huawei unokubi zukuri recently(monouchi area), to show the geometry. seems to be some nice shaping here with a clamshell/apple seed edge. these do take a bit of time to receive but patience brings rewards while brands like jkoo bring disappointment. sorry, not sorry ;P

Makes a difference in cutting performance on targets that offer resistance. Worth the wait to people that can appreciate the extra refinement.

Huawei deserves its good reputation as perhaps the top of the Longquan production swords. True, Jkoo can be hit or miss...the most recent Jkoo/Sinosword I got was all good except I ordered a 2nd (spare) saya. But the sword came without the spare saya. I remember seeing a Jkoo/Sinosword katana on Ebay some time back and it looked like the seller was asking new price for the (used) sword. Maybe it had not been used to cut with, I did not check. Right now there is a fairly plain Jane looking Jkoo/Sinosword waki for sale on Ebay I see. Asking $220 plus $35 shipping. It looks like Jkoo site has simular if not the model cheaper than that. If I want to pay full price for a sword 2nd hand, at least one that is nothing special as far as I can tell, I am not going to pay full price+. Though these days, it would not surprise me to see a Huawei in like new, never cut with, condition for full retail. Face it, Huawei is king of the heap of production swords. The downside is that it is hard these days, to get Huawei to make a custom in a reasonable time frame. I have yet another order in with Jkoo/Sino because I only do custom spec orders and Jkoo will try their best to do unique, customer spec stuff....in fact, that could contribute to problems when a forge is doing "one of's", there is more chance to miss on all the specs. IMO Jkoo's other issue IMO is to go too hard for the low price/budget sword category. When Jkoo tries, they can do a pretty good sword...but my average custom Jkoo these days runs about $400 due to all the stuff I ask for. BTW, the last few Jkoo's I've gotten have had pretty good habaki fit. What Huawei would I like to have? It would be that (still $400) sughua DH mono T10 katana. Good looking sword. But it would cost me, if Huawei willing, not only a long wait, but closer to $600 than $400 because I'd want a different color saya (red...ugh), a full rayskin wrap, a non-high shine polish (ala Jkoo "cosmetic" type polish) and a slightly longer blade. Plus maybe a bit less plain jane fittings. Still a nice sword though.

Setting aside RiC's weekly sales pitch, I've had 6 or 7 each of both Sinosword and Huawei. I've never had a Sinosword Where I felt like I got cheated out of my money. Sometimes they are average and sometimes they are actually above average. Huawei is consistently better of course especially in their niku execution. But I still like both brands for different reasons.
