When you say fix it what do you mean? Get the paint off or covered? Good luck.

You just need a cape now, Eagleman! Perhaps another piece of leather glued on, some visual structure or pattern? A google search for pictures of linothorax may give you some ideas.

By itself, it does have a "logo" feel. If you put in additional decoration, make it more Baroque and less comic-book, it might fly. My suggestions: Have some minor detailing of the eagle--red eyes, claws a different color, flight feathers delineated; put in vining leaves or knotwork designs along the sides in a color other than the gold; finally, perhaps a stylized scroll with a family motto in intricate gothic lettering along the base? More "coat-of-arms", and less superhero, as it were.

Thanks all! "EagleMan" LOL! I will try to cover up the gold and/or add leather as suggested!

"supposedly" the eagle is my family crest..BTW do you think the eagle could be misinterpreted and associated with something bad? last thing i want to happen is if im wearing this at a Renaissance Festival and someone says "Hey that looks like Hitler's (or some other bad guy's) eagle!

Black eagle on yellow ground could be the crest of the grand master of the teutonic order or your underpants after a night of heavy boozing. Choose wisely!

No, that's a perfectly acceptable Germanic eagle. IIRC, some of the Minnesingers and other knights in old manuscripts wore their heraldry that way (on the breast of a surcoat). The Nazi eagle is an art-deco version with straight wings. Nothing like it in traditional heraldry.
Anyway, the important thing is that everybody can identify you on the field, so they'll know who to report to the Heralds and the Crown, when you mace 'em in the cup.

Take another piece of leather and rivet some metal iron or brass lozenges over the effected area. It will cover the emblem and be historical also. Something like this pic or the lozenges like mentioned above.

LOL!!! who knows! maybe one of our barbarous ancestor rushed into battle with a shiny emblem and horned helmet...blinding his enemies with his golden chest armor and then goring them! On the other hand, maybe he was the first to die, by his own men..from being too nerdy!

You could lightly sandpaper ( fine / extra fine grit ) or use steel wool to remove the paint. This will however leave a lighter area where you used the sand paper or steel wool...
What I would do then is use Hubbard's Shoe grease , Pecard's Leather dressing or shoe leather dye to re-color / darken the whole leather piece...not just the paint cleaned areas. Andy

I recommend gold paint over all the natural color of the leather. Maybe add more heraldic devices, or even decorative rivets. It will make it less “superhero” and more “medieval splendor.”
Either way, This is nice work so far. Good job.
