Hi there,
I'm wondering has anyone had any experience with these swords. They crop up on Swords and More and Battle Merchant quite a bit. They look nice with particularly attractive scabbards but I can't find any online reviews.
I'd be particularly interested in distal taper as it's the only thing you can't really figure out from the photos and marketing info.
Thanks

I believe these are just Deepeeka swords. Their website sells Deepeeka swords but they also have their own brand stuff that looks like it's of far better quality. Theres a long sword with fish tail pommel that's particularly nice on first impression.

I have two of their swords, that fishtail longsword and the knights templar sword. Both blunt, don’t think they offer their own line with sharp/pointed blades.
Both are fairly well balanced, especially the longsword. Not much distal taper on either, which makes some sense since they are meant to spar with and need that thick edge. That makes the templar sword somewhat blade heavy since it has less profile taper and shorter grip/lighter pommel. Blades are even and with well made fullers. Solid peens on my examples.
Can’t judge durability steel on steel since I’ve only used the for solo drills/pell work but for that they have held up well.
Only annoying thing for me was that the templar sword pictures on their homepage had deep engraving on pommel and crossguard but when I actually got the sword it had a much less impressive stamped/not reliefed etched lettering.
Hope that helps some.
Edit: I see that they have updated the pictures of the templar sword to be more representative of the actual sword.

In case it helps, I realized no one really said much about this company. They are made in India by the now named Erik Steelcrafts. He was the one that made the previous generation of Balaur Swords. That got in trouble for not being consistent with his steel and hiding information about it. One of our members received several of his swords to review and was mostly quite impressed. One however did fall over and broke at the guard, without ever chopping anything. I call that a fluke though. I want to try for myself, but the owner Shahzeb Ansari has become more elusive to basically everyone, even the Reviewer Phillipe..... Not a good sign when you already had issues with your stuff and are trying to redo your stuff and fix your name under a new name. Some of his stuff is on Battle Merchant, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere else.
Hope that helps!

SPQR is a brand just like Balaur Arms. The brand was bought by Battlemerchant in Germany, including SPQR.se. Yes they are carrying some old Balaur Arms models made Erik Steelcrafts. Same models also sold to Honshu, Red Dragon, Cold Steel, etc. SPQR are not only using OTC / Erik Steelcrafts as forge. But IDK the others.

Good to know that SPQR isn't just Erik steelcrafts. I would LOVE to see a ven diagram or similar with all the decent Indian and Chinese smiths out there on it, showing who makes what for who, etc. one complex spider web it seems!! Thanks for the info!
