Hi team, we're back in lockdown here in NZ so I figured I'd round up my collection of blunt swords for a post. (: I haven't got all the specs for everything but if there's anything someone wants to know I can measure it.
(Also apologies for the lack of updates on the koshirae project, I have an elbow injury and can't proceed with the tsukamaki until it heals properly)
Iaito daisho by Jisei Workshop (Japan). The only set on here that aren't for contact sparring obviously because they are alloy and very pointy.
Katana pair by BlackFencer (Spain). These are heaps of fun to swing around and handle like the real deal! Constructed with a peened pommel.
Longsword by SPQR (Sweden?). Transitional 14th/15th century style?
Longsword feders by Viktor Berbekucz (Hungary) and sold through Purpleheart Armory. These are the disc pommel versions.
Messer and rondel by Landsknecht Emporium (Hungary). Kind of like a western daisho I suppose. (: Maybe 15th/16th century style.
More messers, also by Landsknecht Emporium. These are thin blunts so more for controlled drills than full contact.
Even more messers, by Viktor Berbekucz like the feders above. Sold through Black Armoury.
And finally some rondels by Regenyei Armoury (Hungary).

Looking good. I take it sharpies aren’t allowed in NZ? I have much of the same problem but a quirk in the law allows reproductions and I take it from there. I do have blunts of course for training. Sad to hear of the lock down. We are having a problem also and it’s growing daily.

Oh no we're allowed sharp swords here without any restrictions as long as it's not below a minimum length or concealable. I just happen to have a lot of blunts because it's quite fun to clang steel on steel now and then (and some of the one with scabbards are to go with reenactment costumes). (: Hopefully we will crush this latest outbreak in a few weeks. Also hope you're keeping safe.

How do you like the Regenyei training rondels? I was thinking about getting one...

They're pricey but definitely well made and I don't have anything bad to say about them. (: The grinding on them is pretty much perfect. If I was ordering them again I would have gone with a slightly longer grip length because these are currently perfect for bare hands but a bit tight with gauntlets (but still perfectly doable).
