Thanks for the review absilits, my next sword will probably be a viking style sword and its good to get some feedback on whats out there. +1 The handle looks like it might be a little cramped? Or do you just have large hands?

code, yeah my hands are a larger than average, but the handle wasnt really too cramped. I had one of those cheap viking blades years ago and my hand almosy swallowed the pommel

Excellent review Avery !! Very comprehensive and well presented. And a very nice sword. Dang, if I knew that I'd get one as good as yours, I think I'd order one tomorrow. I really need a "viking" type sword, but have been afraid to order one in our price range - can't afford an Albion. Karma 2 U for the great review.

Thanks alvin. Like I said in the review I ordered through Reliks out of Canada. If you want assured quality they're the ones to go through. I know KoA has the same blade a little cheaper, but I am not sure of their Q.C. Arms of valor also carry it but the price is about equal to reliks.

I have not tested my theory, but I believe the pommel and guard are cast in coper and then some sort of chrome coating is placed over all the area except for the diamonds. The only way to test the theory would be to scrape the coating, but I'm not willing to potentially ruin the finish to find out.

Trueswordsman, It appears that both the guard and pommel are both magnetic. The idea of useing copper coated with a magnetic metal would not be cost effective given the price of raw copper. I tend to believe otherwise. JPFranco, all in all, you should experience for yourself.

Great review , Did you order this sword sharp ? I saw one in MRL catalog but the sword come blunt and sharpening service is extra $16 I ordered this pre-sharpened and would not have done it any other way. Reliks is still trying to prove themselves after a poor reveiw of another viking sword. It is up to people like us to insure they do!

Great work Avery! It's good to see a comprehensive review of this sword, I had heard good things about it - and to have it confirmed like this is great. Anyway, superb jon - 30 review points + 1 karma from me.

Best review I have read in a while. +1. And Paul, IMO, this is "main-site" stuff.

Thank you Paul. My only hope is that windlass doesn't discontinue this one. I really hope that they take into regard what they already have! Instead of substituting new things I think they should see what they already have and continue to improve on those...... Only my humble opinion.

Just a bit of warning. The silver finish on these pieces is prone to flaking. Also the grip assembly tends to loosen with use- as many windlass pieces do. I hope yours holds together better than the one I picked up second hand. Sorry for the poor quality photos btw. . . .
