Ever try muskrat? It's pretty good stuff, even if some find picking meat off a toothed skull to be terrifying Edit : beaver tail is another I recommend. Has to be prepared right tho. My grandpa would trade you any cut on the cow for a properly prepared beaver tail Beaver tail, a wellspring of questionable double entrendre joke material one could imagine. Muskrat could be fine if you remove the rat head, tail, arms/legs. The head was my dad's favourite part, he liked eating the brain. That is a bit extreme for me, I just ate the actual meat I much preferred wild goose and duck tho. Now those are some good eats

You are clearly easy to please on the cooking front. Imagine opening a fancy restaurant and serving scent glands of skunk tar tar (uncooked). I can have one menu item of chicken or beef and call it the "Crybaby Platter". Everybody else gets a choice of braised vulture breasts over a bed of dandelion leaves garnished with chokeberries, or a surf-n-turf of boiled penguin with grilled penguin with a side of cactus salad and bee soup. Everything else but the vulture don't sound so bad. Something about consuming an animal that mainly ingests carrion just doesn't go over well mentally. In the end it/s all about how hungry you are (cannibalism rears its ugly head).

I imagine that tasting like dust bunnies in Luke warm water 😂

Is turkey considered poultry? And I do not mean the country so do not try it. 😾 😹😹😹😹 Poultry = birds raised domestically or commercially for meat. Does that answer your question? Absolutely. Thank you, my good man. Cheerio.

I am adventurous enough to taste stuff at least once. I always wanted to try bear meat. I've only had the noob hunters meals, moose, deer, elk, grouse, muskrat, goose, duck, and rabbit. Never even tried beavertail, as I was a kid when offered some and I didn't want any

I usually cook Chinese or Central Asian, so the natural meats to use for those are pork and lamb/mutton. "Pork" also includes tasty things like ham, bacon, lots of types of sausages, as well as the usual fresh cuts of meat (and those are good too, like pork belly -> Dong Po pork, a great Chinese classic going back to the Song Dynasty). I hereby humbly request your recipe of the Dong Po pork. :) (So mouthwatering...) Alas, our current COVID restrictions will keep me away from the book with the recipe I learned from for at least a week. But essentially: Briefly fry the pork belly, skin down (I think this is to make sure it's de-haired, and this step can be skipped). Boil the pork belly for about 5 minutes, and discard the water (you can also skip this step). Put the pork belly in the pot for slow-cooking, skin down. Add soy sauce, Shaoxing rice wine, sugar, ginger, green onions/scallions (maybe 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup rice wine, 1/4 cup sugar, about a 1" section of ginger sliced finely or shredded, 2 or 3 green onions). Add water so that the pork is just covered. Cook at a simmer until tender, turning over to finish it skin-up about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way through the cooking time. After taking the pork out, you can boil the cooking liquid for a while to reduce it to a sauce to pour over the pork. Some variants (which will make it non-Dong Po, but still tasty): three optional ingredients to cook with it: garlic, chilli, star anise. You can reduce the amount of sugar, or even leave it out. You could add a dash of vinegar, either when cooking the pork or to the sauce afterwards. There is a Korean variant where the rice wine, sugar, and water is replaced with Coca Cola. The other ingredients will be the same, but use about 1/2 the usual amount of soy sauce, and add garlic.

My mother likes to make some sort of slow-cooking stew with pork belly, a mix between Kong Tau Yew Bak (Braised Pork Belly in soy sauce) and Hong Shao Rou (Red Cooked Pork) and Filipino Pork Belly Adobo...which are kinda the same things actually. (I like to substitute the hard-boiled chicken eggs with hard-boiled quail eggs, less filling yet more tasty )

I have to admit these things. 1) I thought that turkey would received more votes. 2) I thought that vegan would have received at least two votes. 3) I will have to try to come up with a three. 😹

I am very surprised that chicken is just about tied with beef. To me they aren't even close lol A nice medium-rare steak? Tri tip? Come on! I like me some fried chicken from Popeye's, but not as much as a properly made steak

Yes, Prime Rib, Porterhouse, etc...I mean everything else tastes like chicken, right. Granted, fried or BBQ chicken can be pretty good, but people lay down large sums of cash on the beef...WHERE'S THE BEEF. Pork can kick serious arse as well.

2) I thought that vegan would have received at least two votes. I like veges just fine and at times would prefer them. I’m also big on nuts and fruits. All of which are plentiful here. Ate grapefruit, strawberries, pecans, and almonds yesterday. Along with carrots, rice, beans, and pork (the size of my little finger) amongst other things.

Vegans are people who do not consume any animal product. Not even milk or cheese.

The problem of this thread and poll is the "either... or". I prefer the "as well as"!

The problem of this thread and poll is the "either... or". I prefer the "as well as"! :D A very German attitude. Meat salad: Diced roast beef Diced roast pork Fried bacon, chopped Fried chicken livers Sliced onion Dress with a dressing of your choice. Can add other ingredients to suit the dressing: chopped pickled cucumbers with mayo or remoulade, tomato and lettuce with vinaigrette, etc.
