I'm checking daily to see if any spring steel Munetoshi Vipers are back in stock over at Swordnarmory, and may have to keep doing so for months. I know Munetoshi is their house brand, so I won't find them elsewhere, but does anyone know if other companies source from the same forge? Are there other vendors selling swords based on the same blade? I am untrusting of ebay sword sellers in general, but this blade profile matches the Viper spot-on: www.ebay.com/itm/264351955267The ad claims 9260, which would be a plus, but I have no way of knowing the quality of heat treatment, or if it's straight junk. This is why I'm wondering if any forum members know of another reputable brand or seller who offers the dual bo-hi unokubi zukuri profile of the Munetoshi Viper reliably made of properly heat treated spring steel.

If I'm remembering right, vansword is another front for ryansword, and both are okay at best, and nightmares at worst. Huawei makes the best unokubi-zukuri I've seen, but they're a bit behind these days and people have been having problems getting through to them after ordering, and waiting months...
Edit: If you have to go the custom-order route, what you're wanting is naginata-hi and soe-bi.

Yeah, I've been avoiding Ryan Sword (and sellers referencing them as supplier).
I would love the off-the-shelf $200 Huawei 9260, but that is unlikely to happen this year. I've considered a custom order, but as you point out there are customs problems beyond their control.
We are in the swordpocalypes after all. I'll just wait it out. I have a Musashi brand entry level cutter and plenty of exotic things that go 'pew' to keep me entertained until availability returns.

Sinosword has made me two really solid Unokubi Zukuri swords before. Usually I'd recommend Huawei first but if you don't wanna deal with that headache then you could take a shot with Sino. You're going to want to ask for things like geometric bo hi, for better transition to the "false edge" on the spine and make sure to ask for no yokote if you don't want it, because by default they will use yokote on their Unokubi blades. I know some people have disappointing experiences with them but I've also seen plenty of good reviews and I think I've had 5 or 6 from them. I liked them all for the price point. It wouldn't be much different from the typical longquan flaws you'd get on a Munetoshi. Unless they really mess it up.
