At the advice of Lord Newport, I'm reposting here as it had been created in the wrong section. Here is a link to the original thread, but I'm pasting my original post here as well. Further details are in the linked thread.

Hey guys. New to posting, but have had an account for a while. I apologize if this post is in the wrong spot, but buyer beware.
Anyways, just wanted to share a recent, and ongoing, experience with John Logan of Iron Tree Forge. I had seen and heard over the past years that John from ITF was very good at his craft, from cuttoes to tomahawks, so I commissioned him to do a variant of one of Washington's small swords. Our correspondence began on 5/12/20 in the midst of the pandemic. Over the months following, design ideas and the back and forth therein was pretty consistent, but slowed to a crawl where I would maybe hear back in a month.
John then sent out an email stating the year had been rough (understandably) due to the pandemic and pledged either full refunds to all those who had commissions for his work, or any modifications within reason at no extra charge, and that while still finishing the commissions he would start focusing on the art and science behind historical objects. I sympathized, and bore with it. Then his friend passed in November, then another apparently in January, then medical issues in February.
Sent a few messages on their Irontreeforge Facebook page to no avail, and a few emails which had gone unanswered, too. He has been posting sporadically on the FB page and apparently has also been very busy dealing with fireworks according to his personal page. This is not how you do business with people. You are never too busy for even a quick response to a paying customer.
So, whether any of what I was told was true, or if it is just BS, I would say just stay away. I have seen another person attempting to sell their commission slot, so I'm sure others dealing with John are aggravated as well. On the plus side, it was a $1200 lesson I learned so you don't have to.
-As an addendum if you did not read through the original thread, multiple attempts to contact Iron John Logan/Irontreeforge via the forge's email, personal email, and Facebook messenger along with their Irontreeforge Facebook page have been unsuccessful and unanswered. Mentioned in the original thread, I most likely will contact our states' respective Attorneys General to file formal complaints if my communications go unanswered.
