 Here is a Modern fantasy take of a seax I made at work which I thought it would be fun. Just in case you can't see the reading...here is the description of the seax. Text: Modern Take on a fantasy battle seax Blade Length: 18 inches (take 1 or 2 inches) Weight: 1.5 pounds Distal Taper: 8mm at base, mid 6mm and finally 3mm spine near tip. Handle: 5 to 6 inches Think: Urban Fantasy or low tier scifi Sheath: Leather or Kydex. Mind you, this is a fantasy design. I might even have this made in the future. |

I like it! Were you thinking of stacked leather on the handle? Just my personal thoughts: I think for the blade length, the base 8mm and 6mm at the middle might be a bit on the hefty side( More then your proposed 1.5 lb) if you decide to make this one come to life in real steel. I would advise that you either start with a thinner base and calculate down accordingly. OR If you are going to be 8mm at the base then I would recommend it being closer to 4mm( Close to 1/2 of base) when it get's around half the length. That sounds like an awesome idea! I was thinking the blade would be light but balance and thinning it out might work out. It is something else, I thought to make it usable but cool looking. My brother called it a mall ninja seax. |

On the stacked leather part, I am not sure to be honest. I thought of having more like wood with ridges on it or even micarta. Originally I wanted to go full tang but decided for a stick tang. |
