So I asked for and received a pair of the new Honshu seaxes to test for you guys. I wanted one in each steel type so I could see if there was a noticeable difference in edge retention or overall durability/impact resistance. These short swords are MEAN little choppers, but they're hollow ground like the Karito axe, so you can probably guess they're not meant for machete work. Preliminary specs: 25.75" Overall length 19.4" Blade length 4.5" Point of balance 1 lb 8.4 oz weight Should be a video review in a few weeks.

Man, if these were convex or flat ground I'd have already bought one. Looking forward to the review.

These should perform great for cloth and meat but not a good choice for a tool for any task besides thin grasses or cutting up meat. My preference would probably be full flat grind with a convexed secondary but I was pretty well pleased with the performance of this same hollow bevel on the karito axe.

These are weapons and toys, not tools. I also understand that a hollow grind makes for an often easier to sharpen edge, as there's less material to move. But full flat would make this design so versatile!

Perhaps we will see an APOC seax on the future, which probably would be just that.

Man these ones look great. I love the hollow ground blade. Would be a perfect side arm to a bow

I really enjoyed your coverage of the other honshu blades and axe. I look forward to seeing how the twin blades stack up against each other.
