I sharpened my customer's katana to "Lancelot-sharp" and tested it on a denim bag covered upper arm target, to demonstrate my definition of sharpness as "sharp enough to cut through fabric, yet strong enough to not suffer damage when cutting through bones".

Markus313 has a target with a wood core and multiple layers of denim wrap. Many people have had difficulty getting a cut on it. I think it comes down to using a different cut style on different targets. Apparently hacking at the target like an axe did nothing much to it, but short slicing hits cut right through.
It's good to practice on a lot of different things to learn how the sword interacts with the different materials. We can't just stay fixed on water bottles and newspaper rolls. We should mix it up a little bit and see what happens.

LOL Yes, I experiment with different kinds of cutting mechanism. Some were done by hand powered, some were done by arm powered, and some were hip powered. Also tested with different grips, like hammer grip and handshake grip. I'm pretty close to getting the optimal configuration for my target setup, I believe. :D

Experimenting with a new technique that will enable straight swords to cut almost as good as curved swords did before, and curved swords cut SUPER good now, through the denim bag as if it wasn't even there.
