Excellent recovery to the ready position. Often that is the most overlooked part of a cut.
He could use more work on the initial ready position before the strike - too much of a pause. I know he is just cutting a fixed target, but in a sparring match or actual fight that hesitation is very bad. Think like a cobra snake or a scorpion - fast, deadly, and surprising.

Thanks for the comments. I informed him already.

Ah, back to the roof tops, but not the same roof. We were forced to move in 2018. :(

Make a cut, reach into your pocket. That must be part of the training

The wipe works. The various flip, shake, and thump, that I see in katas do not. Furthermore at times I find debris on the blade from the target that do not improve the cutting ability.

Usually it's a question that has been asked for several times in mainland China website, where they don't test cut much.
