Hello, I recently came into possession of bracers and Greaves and they are so big lol. Like they are meant to fit around a medium sized woman's thighs. Are they supposed to be that spacious? Is it for padding? I bent my bracers a bit just to narrow em a little, cause the spacing is ridiculous

Nvm, turns out its fine when you have padding, such as a gambeson, underneath

Whatever you wear underneath will affect the fit. I have bracers that I wore/wear on my bare arms when working on or near my razor wire fence. They work and I’m glad that I have them. But they are useless otherwise. My light weight gambeson and the heavy weight each require a different size. I found that my splint armour the most versatile as I can wear the same bracers with either gambeson due to their flex. Sometimes with plate it’s necessary to bend to fit and then there’s a good possibility it will fit only whatever you adjusted it for. Be glad that it’s loose enough to wear something underneath.

Yes and yes. Inherited armor wasn't built for *you*, so it won't fit perfectly. Now fiddling with padding will help. But are you just wearing it for costume, or you plan to spar in it?

Yea i decided I liked the fit after using padding. At first it felt way too big, without it. I'm not sure why, I had the impression you wore it over bare skin, but now I realized it doesn't make sense not to have padding
And I plan to spar in it.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

Bracers and greaves without proper padding are basically useless. Not only does the padding absorb shock, it also adds one final layer for a cut. I've found that most metal greaves and bracers are waaay too big to be worn without *something* under them. The one exception is a pair of leather bracers I got many years ago. However, they are two-layer---hard, shiny leather on the outside, and soft suede on the inside. Very comfy and even more so with light padding. ------McM

They would be stiff enough to help with the shock I need some leg padding, but until then, my kickboxing Shin pads do the job haha
