I am looking to purchase a wakizashi. I want it to be strong, durable, heavy, and good quality. I don't have a huge budget, so I'm looking for something that is surprisingly solid for its price. I am not looking to cut, I just want something to practice with and display. I know displays are usually made from stainless steel and are very brittle. I want something durable and strong because even if it's just sitting there and looking beautiful, I can't accept it being weak in any way. I don't have OCD but good quality is something I need. I'm not experienced in wielding a katana, so I would prefer the edge to be blunt. Does anyone know where I can buy a blunt edged good quality heavy wakizashi?

You could always go with an Iaito from one of the following: www.seidoshop.com/search?q=wakizashi&type=producttozandoshop.com/search?q=wakizashiIf your budget is a little more modest, you could always consider a custom job from Longquan that isn't sharpened.

Somebody else would have to speak to the quality with any given vendor, but my research shows me that practically all of the major dealers offer blunt katana/wakizashi. As well as purpose-built laito. But at the lower $ end I think most people complain about the quality of the fixtures more than the balde and the durability of the such on a sword re the continuous drawing and swinging about (doing kata). Below is a good video from Matthew Jensen that goes over one such to give you an idea of what I'm talking about and what seems to be some of the problem areas. On the bright side even some of the lesser expensive ones, such as from HanBon Forge, also allow for you to customize the look of your sword so at least it LOOKS good. OOOPS! MY BAD. The prior video I had posted here with the wrong one...this is the one I was talking about
