I found that cheap rifle cases work very well for storing swords. Velcro strips can be thread thru the form to hold the sword in place. Also, another problem is a very sharp sword point. Valiant Arms shipped a sword with a plastic tip protector (it protected me anyway...) to me.
After thinking about where to get some of these, I thought about making them myself.
(1) cut up milk jugs and form the tip protectors with plastic pieces folded over in a U shape and held together with duct tape.
(2) cut a piece of wood to the right size and hollow out a space for the sword tip to fit snugly.
How about your ideas for sword tip protectors and sword storage?

Well, not all scabbards in the sub-$300 range of swords come with wooden cores, and therefore aren't so good for storage. So have I been told.

I thought those are called sheaths? herm.
but yeah. a butt load of cloth soaked in grease wrapped around the sword probably works well.
