Does anyone know where to find a gambeson that has the shoulder things you can tie pauldrons to? Or do people usually make the spots you tie to on their own?

Normally I try avoid amazon after the last purchase I made where they delayed my shipping for a month over "fraud" while taking my money... But that's a nice gambeson. An even nicer price

Thanks pgandy. I might give the amazon one a try. It's worth the risk at that price haha. Exactly what I was looking for.

If anyone is still checking this thread, what do you guys do about sweat getting on the gembeson? Can you wash them? Do you double up on shirts?

I suppose cleaning would depend on the manufacturer and gambeson. I’ve had mine for some time and can’t remember if instructions came with them or not. I have two. One is of light weight and is best suited for protecting me from my other armour. It’s cooler, easier, and faster to dawn not to mention more confortable. The other is quite thick and would offer excellent protection from a cut in itself. Both have lace on sleeves that are voided in the armpits. The light one is dark brown in colour and has so much oil and discolouration from the mail it now appears to be leather rather than clothe. The other is an off white colour and shows discolouration but not from oil. I would think dry cleaning as opposed to laundering would be advisable but I’ve done neither, nor is there a disagreeable odour. I wear only a skivvy shirt under them. I do hang them outside in the sunlight to kill the bacteria and airing. Since the pandemic and using alcohol spray so much I suspect that I could use that too to sanitize. There are no schools nor organizations here for me to learn from so there may be a better way but that is how I’ve been doing it.

I hadn't thought it before as I'm adjusted to using washing machines. Alcohol spray and UV light should serve me just fine, until I can get a dry clean. I ordered the one you recommended, in black. I'm so sad at how long it's gonna take to get in. But I'm even more excited to have it.

The manufacture alone took two to three weeks. The other was off the peg from KoA. Both required international shipping and customs.

It's a great gambeson too, I removed the straps on my pauldrons and used the holes to tie them to my gambeson wirh paracord, I found the ropes it came with to be too weak for my liking. It's very comfortable but I think mine is way too big. Maybe I can fit more padding under it Either way, thanks for the recommendation. I really like this gambeson. Now I just need me some medieval pants and a tunic or something I also got my greaves, so bracers are next

I also got my greaves, so bracers are next Glad that the gambeson is to your liking. I found that I had the same problem with bracers as I did with greaves, or vs. and that is they had a tendency to slide down. In both cases I had nothing supporting them from above to hold them up. I much reduced the issue by gluing course sandpaper on the inside the bit into the gambeson. I further, and this worked the best in my case, was with my light gambeson with slightly long sleeves was to cuff the sleeve so the bracer rested in the fold. I have several bracers and my favourite bracers are 16 ga. of splint design. The offer good protection and not too heavy and flexible allowing me to use with which gambeson I chose. Using my experience from the bracers I jumped at the splint greaves when a pair came along. But with my greaves the secret was in the padding. I had a couple the proved unsatisfactory permitting the greaves to slide down and rest on the top of my foot arch, not comfortable. I finally located a set of padding for the greaves that at the lower end extended forward slightly, enough to protect the arch, and then all was OK.

Funny enough, I'm doing the exact same thing skrh my greaves. I have these kick boxing Shin pads that work great at keeping them in place. I think I'll try your trick out on the bracers once I have them

Dude---Don't use modern stuff. KOA and Medieval Collectibles sell greave and bracer padding for DIRT CHEAP. Multiple colors too. A company from Germany (?) called Mytholon makes great padded armor. Check 'em out. They make some kick-a** steel armor also. Their padded greaves are so comfy that I sometimes wear them (and bracers) under my street clothes...because you never know when or if.....McM

I'm boycotting America and all its imperialistic-jk lol. I don't like paying the extra shipping 😂 I'm too frugal

Just sayin'.....Mytholon makes great stuff, it's authentic looking, and the prices are right. If you're bugged with American companies, I'm almost 100% sure that Mytholon is based in Germany. Their stuff is great quality, and it won't set you back a fortune. I've bought a ton of their products and haven't been disappointed yet.
