Hi all, I'm looking for a place to buy a set of good quality, functional kamas. I practice traditional Okinawan Kobudo and I have a few sets now that just don't quite feel right. The ones I usually use have a very nice wood handle but the blade is basically wall hanger quality. I don't do much cutting with them but we do work bo vs kama techniques and would be looking for something that can stand a little abuse. Of course, cutting ability is always a plus too.
Thank you!

I’m not into kamas but I’ll throw this out to you. If what you are using has “very nice wood” that you like perhaps you can send them to one of our members that makes blades and have them mount their blades onto your handles or make the entire thing. Check out the “Manufactures and Vendors Talk” board to find the names of possible contacts. That is if you don’t find anything premade that suites you.

The kama is actually a very popular gardening tool, and one can usually find much better options at Asian stores (is there are any in your area, online if there aren't) than one would find in martial arts catalogs.
I used to do kenpo, a hundred years ago, and enjoyed the kama kata. Never had my own set, though. Just used the tacky practice sets my school had.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check out both of those options. I had tried to find someone who could make me some but could not find any good sources locally. I had not thought check with the manufactures on here though
