Wushu steel serves its purpose, it makes a crap sword but as a practice weapon for forms it is very good because it can indicate your level of competency, the faster you can move whilst keeping the blade straight is an indication of your ability.

Um it depends on whether it is aluminium or wushu steel, wushu steel is very thin and very sharp and you could probably easily lose a limb if you cut yourself, if they are aluminium then no you can't cut yourself, aluminium is a get training tool. The best option is to get two wooden bokken dao and learn with those as they approach the weight and feel of a steel sword.

Talk to Garrett, I bet he could fix something up, may be a bit pricey though because it will be custom.

ha ha I take the hint. I'm not aware of any modern production paired dao, so You have 2 options on this. 1) Just buy 2 normal dao and use them together. 2) Get a pair custom made so that they fit together in one scabbard.

custom fittings always cost an arm to make. Starting at $300 depending on complexity.

I've been surfing and making calls all day and all I can come up with is the same crap for more money In China there are a bunch of them floating around, pretty good quality too, if you know where to look. Next summer when I return to China I could pick up one for you, then sell it to you in the classifieds.

I just want a guard and pomel like the ones in the picture What if you bought the ones in your first post, removed the fittings, and put them on some higher-quality swords you bought individually? Depending on how they're assembled, that may be difficult, but it's just a suggestion.
