I wanted to make a list of things that would be considered light cutting objects, please add more if you can think of any (I need suggestions). Im doing this list because its rather tricky at times to come up with ideas for light cutting items when youve got your more sensitive swords out to play.
1. beverage containers 2. fruits n' vegetables (take that healthy!) 3. weeds 4. cardboard boxes 5. rope 6. stuffed animals 7. thin branches 8.pool noodles 9.moistened and rolled together newspapers (courtesy of handforgedkatanas) 10.slim green bamboo (courtesy of djg)
anything else?

Stuffed animals? ;D I guess, if they are large enough and you soak 'em in water before cutting? I'd add those round cardboard shipping tubes to the list. You can also check your local reprographics shops (check your phone book) for cardboard tubes. They print stuff on large paper that comes in rolls. In the center of the roll is a heavy-wall cardboard tube. They're generally around 3-4" diameter and maybe 1/8" thick, and go from 2-4 feet in length, usually. Some places recycle them, but others may give you a bunch if you ask. Woops, that should have read 2-3" diameter (I just measured a couple.

Cardboard(especially the harder varieties like that used in a tube) is actually full of bits of glass and sand and stuff which is pretty detrimental to a good blade. I'd put that in the Light-end of Medium targets.

Tightly rolled and tied newspaper lightly soaked makes a good light target and is easier on the blade than cardboard

ah! wet newspaper , thats a great idea! Ill add that to the list
by the way kreigschwert, medium/large sized stuffed animals cut suprisingly well despite their lightness. Just have a friend throw it at you and give a good solid swing.

I use a lot of soaked newspaper for cutting, but I use pretty thick, tightly-rolled amounts, so I tend to think of it more as a medium target, but yeah, with a smaller role, it would be a decent light target.

just a word of avice: Milk jugs are far easier to cut than, say, large juice jugs, and they in turn are far easier to cut than, say, smaller heavier bottles.
Not all containers are the same. Soeaking of juice bottles, my ritter just made mincemeat out of a heavy grapejuice container...something I'd never been able to do with any of my other swords.

another word of advice: Don't cut organges. Just don't. Acid is not a friend of steel.

I have found Gatorade and PowerAid bottles to be the most difficult plastic bottles I've tried. The plastic they use is thick and seems to be "harder" than any other plastic bottles I've tried.
Oh yeah, I've been meaning to mention/suggest what I'm doing. I can't drink enough to keep my cutting habit satisfied. So I pick up plastic bottles on the side of the road under the guise of "public service" trash collection. It makes points with the public too. ;-)

How sweet. I'm sure she'll just love it. Me: Actually, I'm gonna chop it in half with a sword. Her: !!!!!!!

Ive done the same thing with "community service" shootermike heh heh heh by the way, Ive never tried cutting gatorade bottles. hmm "Her: I bet you're buying that big stuffed bear for your wife or girlfriend, right? How sweet. I'm sure she'll just love it. Me: Actually, I'm gonna chop it in half with a sword." I...I never thought of such a situation... ......Im a horrible person......ha....hahaha! but truly, I dont buy the stuffed animals I chop, I find them(beside dumpsters or trashcans) those china made stuffed animals can be really scary sometimes, (eyelashes on pupils and teeth coming out of noses) and as such, kinda deserve to be destroyed as a protest to cheap manufacturing that can scare children.

I agree, it's best to put such horrors out of their misery. You are truly a merciful person. ;D

Beverage is another English word for drink. Somebody could ask you if you want a drink, or they could ask you if you want a beverage, it's the same thing. So, a beverage container would be a plastic Coke bottle, water bottle, etc. D'oh! Mike beat me to it...

what kinda vegetables are considered "safe" to cut without any risk of possibly damage the sword (acidic veggie stuff and all that) ?

I Would guess apples, melons, watermelons, pineapple [but thats not very light cutting due to its rather thick shell].... thats what comes up in my head right now.
Onion if you can really stand the small afterwards, lol.
