Have one of their octagonal section bladed ones. No real problem with the tang, the hole drilled for the pin was a bit off center but acceptable. I'll take a look at the threaded weld section in a couple days when I get time if you're willing to wait and hear my feedback. Lol

I watched Swordsage's review of one of their old models and he seems pretty happy with it too!

Oh for sure, the style you're wanting I see no real issue with. My own example loosened quickly to the point I needed to remove the hilt entirely, and for han style jian i wouldn't recommend them. However they seem to do better with their later style sword.

I found this old thread where a member disassembled some Chinese swords and compared the tangs. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/33040/tang-comparisonIt turns out that the problem isn't so much the tangs but that a lot of jian handles are just hollowed out tubes! If the tiny metal pin breaks, your left with a rotating handle! The Hanwei jian by Scott Rodell however is nice, sturdy, and built like a tank! I'm not sure if Sinoswords ever resolved this problem but my guess is not. Most modern Chinese swords tend to be neglected and few people ever take them apart to see what's inside!

Seems like they would be nice fixer uppers. I'm okay with short cuts taken to save me money, if they are easily fixable
