I am planning to do this myself. But I'll be puttibg the magnets on a board, then mounting the board horizontally across the wall and hanging a bunch of pieces.

There was a thread in General sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/62785/wall-mount-sword-using-magnetThey seem like a handy no-brainer but I am wary of bare sharps with that arrangement. Another consideration is depth of a guard and needing spacing for some hilts. I have nothing in racks at this point but when I did last have sharps out, they were in a very secure spot and only cut myself twice Arranging these on boards is a great wall saver in the end but the floating bare look is cool. I had my A&A GBS cradled by the pommel in a fork arrangement (half a sword mount) and it lived there for years bare until it jumped off the wall at me and sliced the back of my hand. What I have right now is some just leaning in corners, ready to go. Cheers GC

Bare vertical sharps is definitely not child or pet friendly. I think a horizontal mounting board can compensate for guards well enough - use a 2x4 and you've got clearance for an inch and a half of guard width on the wall side. I'm in the process of moving and will have a small, safe basement room that I am going to try this in. The room will mostly be blades and a sharpening table.

So things to consider... As Edelweiss said, bare sharps...and distance from the wall. From an angle the crappy black tape on the magnet really stands out...gonna see what colors I can find. I do not believe you could do this with a bassket hilt of any sort. So for my Argentine 1898, I'm thinking of a board with wood spacers, and a magnet on the spacer. This would solve any number of issues. Plus I need to dig for smaller magnets to hold the tips.

Ah, and one MORE thing... If your blade is narrow, you can see the magnet.

It's working out great for me. I need to paint the wall and board but the concept is sound.

And if something comes off...add a second magnet

So far one magnet has been plenty for any of my swords. Axes need two.

In the far right of the picture you can see a Balaur Arms single edged viking sword hung with these same type of magnets.
