To be honest, yes. the day i got my favorite sword (i named her hanahime cuz im childish) i opened up the box and unsheathed it , instantly got a bad vibe, and being how i am i felt that the sword didnt like me in the least (cuz im like that =/ i beleve stuff ..sue me) but i pushed on and used the sword anyway =/ did cutting tests and then later that day i was sitting around when i got the urge to go out and cut a milk jug ... so i took Hanahime and went out to do so ... i attempted to do a fast unsheath and somehow SLICED my thumb down to the bone , it felt like nothing i'd ever experienced at first , but it was not that painful (yet) so i quickly stuck my thumb in my mouth cut the milk jug, wiped the sword and went to tend to my finger ...but the cut was alot worse than i thought , ^^; i only noticed after my finger was wraped up and taken care of (kinda) i had lost alot more blood than i thought lol and this was just my thumb ._. so wow.... now im not saying i almost died but i almost passed out (i think i did for a minute actualy) went out after it was all said and done and looked at the ground to behold alot of red snow ._.; Hanahime got me really good wow .... but something felt different , i went down to my room and opened up the box and unsheathed hanahime , it was odd , Bad vibe was gone =/ everything seemed fine , it felt as if the sword had accepted me now =/ and now hanahime is my favorite sword ^^ (and i have a HUGE scar on my thumb ..shoulda went and got stitches but ima wuss)

Brought it back from the dead (i.e. necro, as in necromancer)

Nothing wrong with re-initiating a forgotten discussion. There were some interesting posts in this thread and at least Ronin had the decency to actually contribute positively in his resurrection. I've seen worse.

I'm not a big fan of the supernatural but... if a tool, or sword, or situation, gives you a bad feeling, it's wise to listen to those feelings. Weather it's a 6th sense, bad karma or just intuition, a part of our brain is trying to tell us something.

I have to agree with others on the 'subconscious mind making connections that you may not have noticed consciously' and 'self-fulfilling prophecy' aspects. Being uncertain about a weapon tends to mean that your chances of hurting yourself with it is higher, funnily enough (not as bad as being overconfident, of course, but still not good). I do get that ominous feeling with machetes though, I don't like them and as such I have never cut with them. The best way I can describe my view of a machete is 'brutal'. See, this is what I like about machetes. Of course, I'm a brutal kind of person.

Yes, I absolutely know this feeling. Had it when the Dark Age Sword for Skallagrim arrived. Normally I test all his weapons if they are my type or not. But after holding it for some seconds I handed it over to him and refused to touch it again. Something was just wrong, I even started to kind of fear it when Skallagrim wielded it. Sure this definitely came partly from the fact that it handled badly and every time the blade passed by me I got the feeling: "Now he'll loose his grip..." But never the less, I've been there when we had other heavy weapons and never felt this way.
The obvious "common sense" explanation is of course self fulfilling prophecy. I don't give a lot about this unconscious mind affair (had too many psychology courses), given there is an unconscious part of our mind, but it's not all-noticing or all-knowing.
Bad vibes from weapons (or other objects) will be explained by everybody according to own believes. So I take mine ;D
So yes, I absolutely believe in bad vibes or evil ghost or dislike from the object, whatever you want to call it. Some things and persons are just not to be combined.

More and more learning to listen to the quietest voices will benefit you. It' more a matter of comparing: what am I thinking? Now what am I feeling? Then go with what your feeling.
Thinking is our problem. Our feelings are always right. Our thoughts sabotage us.

Feelings are governed by emotion and experience. They are most certainly not always right. When somebody benefits at my loss, I sometimes experience pangs of envy. I must think about what I am feeling. This analysis shows me that what I am feeling is ugly and hateful. I do not want these types of feelings in my life. All humans exhibit these traits. Also if you spend to much time reading and watching fantasy, you can start to believe untruths. Perhaps a gut feeling is based on a subconscious fear. Don't forget psychological disorders also. Things like this and religion are really not debatable in my opinion. Have a good day.

Feelings are often not right. In my experience, the voice in the back of my head or that gut feeling is merely a "What did I miss? What did I forget? There has to be SOMEthing?!"
Occasionally it's right, but some clear thinking always solves the problem of doing without whatever you forgot or missed.
This is not to say that logic is infallible, however. As has often been said, "Logic is many times no more than a way to err with confidence."
The trick to being right most often is knowing which to listen to in which situation. I'll go with my feelings for interpersonal situations. I'll go with logic almost every other time.
