Sorry guys. It appears we’re too late, whatever is in that forest has devoured thor. Let that be a lesson to all of us, never go into the forest without at least your sword, although a spear would be a better option.

It's advisable on outings with the family to have a perfect family kill circle ready to go at any time.

The Revenant’s bear attack scene. It's fictional, but haunting.

Hello Everone I have seen all the threads here I am looking Best sword I live In Forest and the animals are confined there I need A Sword To protect From wild Animals Is anyone Know Which Sword Is better For Me To protect From Wild Animals Thanks. Well, the first thing is, wild animals aren't as stupid or braindead as some people think they are. I don't mean that you think this ,but I do mean I don't know what you think about their intellect. That said, mostly, animals are just as intelligent as you are when it comes to walking around in the woods and encountering another animal. Actually, animals should be so far ahead of you with this sort of interaction, that if they had skills at hunting humans, which they don't, you wouldn't stand a chance, even if you had an assault rifle. Luckly, when it comes to technology, they have no experience, no useful knowledge, they are like children in a high tech workplace. What that means is that,, if you DO have a weapon, the MOST likely scenario is that they know you have a weapon, and that's really all. Unless you specifically plan to engage the animal, any weapon of any kind, and then intent to use it, should be enough that any animal that thinks you might be worth some aggression will see you, understand you have a weapon, and steer clear. Again, if the animal is intent on hunting you, (and the honest truth is, they can,,, mostly wolves and cats will do this) then you can't win, you will never have your weapon ready if they spring on you and that's when you find out they are there. BUT,, if you wander into their space, and they are having a bad day and to be quite frank don't feel like leaving thank you very much,,, then it will be the situation that if you have a weapon, they will see you , you will see them, they will be angry, you will brandish you weapon,, they will know you (not your weapon), they will know what you are confident you can do in self defense (just because you will represent yourself thusly), and they should basically feel encouraged to leave. Honestly if you have big cats, you need a gun, and you need friends. If you're here in the forum asking about a sword to tote around walking alone,,, and you live in cat territory, you need to connect with local people who know what's up, they will tell you what gun to buy, and they will take you out and teach you how to be in the woods, and you should go do that. Cats DO attack, and kill people, that happened at least once last year. so my opinion is,,, any sword will do, use it like a spear, keep it pointed at them, they will contact it and that will teach them. If they knew martial arts, then yes, their body would best you for sure, but they don't, they grab with their mouths, they need to get all the way up onto you with their face, and you can keep a point between you it will work. my other opinion is,, animals are just like people. If you walk into a room and you don't want to talk to the people there, they will know that, they will be disinclined to talk to you also. IT won't work 100%, but it will work mostly. Do the same with animals. Just, "want" them to leave, and they will feel so inclined. I would get a zombie tools, or some other construction worthy sword, because then you can use it for bush-construction projects.

A firearms will in many cases be better but some people may not have access to them or live in an area or country were they are heavily restricted. And there are aggressive animals encountered sometimes (though rare) in the wild. You are more likely to encounter feral dogs which can be a real threat in some parts of the USA or the world. And not all animals will back off easily even if you have a weapon. Had a guy I knew several years ago was confronted by a pack of feral dogs and he used a firearm and spear in his defense. He ended up having to kill about 5 of dogs (pack was about a dozen) because they would not back off even after he killed a few. They final saw the light and retreated but stalked him until he made it to his vehicle. This was on a Native American reservation out west in Arizona.
Animals are unpredictable so any weapon is better than none and a sword will work in most cases. Just like a spear or a firearm.

Animals are unpredictable so any weapon is better than none and a sword will work in most cases. Just like a spear or a firearm. I will say one thing about being on a reservation,,, native americans can be hostile towards US citizens,,, I have a somewhat relevant experience I will use as an analogy: I was walking to a temp-job, and had to cross a river under a highway overpass on a pedestrian bridge that ended in an area with a homeless camp. THere were some dogs that this one particular individual had,, they came up and nipped at me, mostly focused on their superiority (knowing they had me for sure), but also focused on (call me crazy) their owners normal tendency to encourage them to hate people who weren't homeless. He was this cynical smoker type and clearly spent his days brooding,, it was like walking in to a bunch of poor kid gangsters who want to rob you but don't, but do spend that time thinking about what they know you have, but it was dogs who were hoping to hunt one day. THere were a handful of dog attacks in that area over time, actually, and a lot of people encouraged or were generally supportive of dogs who would entertain attacking people who looked clean and homed. Why is this relevant?? Well,, reservation residents ALSO spend their time brooding and encouraging their animals to want to kill people who they perceive as an enemy. That means that this wouldn't be a natural disposition of dogs in general,,, these dogs are in regular communication with someone who is hoping they kill someone. That doesn't mean that it wouldn't happen for another reason, but my inclination is to think that this specific scenario is a result of a resident participating in a culture of encouraging the predators to want to take down certain types of human. I know the whole idea that you can see what the dogs are thinking is one of those crazytown subjects, but I will put it out there that I feel confident that I know why the local cats are thinking about, I know what homeless dogs and chickens are thinking about, etc., I live near ocean fauna who actually surf with the surfers, and you can see them thinking about all of that,, ,so I do believe the psychology is in there,,, someone is wanting the animals to do the deed for them to want to get up to it. actually pigs are getting more common, and there are plenty of pigs that would kill any human they thought they could get away with. Lucky the pigs around here are too small and well controlled, they are pretty spiteful overall.
