Niúwěidāo Questions (New Why Dao)

I recently got a Hanwei Practical Kung Fu Broadsword, the black Oxtail Dao / Niúwěidāo (New Why Dao 
), not the brass one.
The broad part of the blade before the tip has a very flat and thin diamond cross section.
I had expected a triangular backsword cross section along the whole blade but this makes the forte really lightweight for a good handling.
The false edge is so thin that I'm thinking of sharpening it like I usually do on sabers, curlass etc.
I did some search but got no information except that other Chinese dao types had a false edge at the tip, sometimes sharp.
Do oxtail sabers usually have such a diamond blade cross section there?
If yes, were they sharp?
