Nice. Thanks for the heads-up. My hobby fund is in the red, or I might jump on that niuweidao.

I had ordered from Midway when these first came out and the sale was seamless. 20% off makes me think about shopping but I have already been a bad boy this year. I like the backsword and it has proven that most swords out perform my abilities these days. I paid something like $215 through Midway and it was the low price at the time with others still keeping it in the $225 ballpark. Mine has remained solid after one pretty brutal session. I will remain still growing affection for them. They have a modern take flavor to them with the glossy fittings finish but something not really noticed when wielding. I did tweak the curly horns of the basket outward just a touch to avoid any poking in moulinet. They are a bit roomier than the Hanwei mortuaries. Cheers GC

Hasn't arrived yet. I was just commenting on the pictures I've seen. You got me to break out my backsword yesterday. It’s taken a backseat the last couple of months while investigating two sabres. I decided to retire one and the other I’ve come rather fond of after modifications. The backsword has remained at my headboard along with shield and will in the foreseeable future. A good cutting session always puts me in a good frame of mind and this one is still with me this morning.

The backsword arrived. It's a fantastic blade. It is really agile and fits my hand perfectly. I added it to my display wall in my office. Thanks for the recommendation Pgandy.

I was sure that you would like it. I would like to know about that cadet sword. I got that cadet sword as a gift for my parents when I graduated the Air Force Academy. They had it on their wall for many years, and then gave it back to me to hang in my office. Those swords are issued to cadets for ceremonial purposes: parades, formations, etc. There is a drill team that uses them for competitions as well. I was issued one as a cadet, but had to give it back. As graduates, we could buy them through base supply. Which reminds me of a funny story. Supply would only take money orders. Price was something like $202.02. My roommate wanted three for gifts so he got a money order for $606.06. They wouldn't take it because the price of three swords was $606.07. Apparently the actual price per sword was $202.023 and so when the computer sold one sword it rounded down to $202.02 but when it sold three swords it rounded up from $606.069 to $606.07. He had to go get another money order. Government in action!

I would like to know about that cadet sword. Price was something like $202.02. If I remember correctly mine was <$50, but that was back in ’55. Too far back for this feeble mind to remember. I do remember my ring was $39.95. My son now has it.

Was curious so I googled the inflation rate "According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics consumer price index, today's prices in 2020 are 871.19% higher than average prices since 1955. The U.S. dollar experienced an average inflation rate of 3.56% per year during this period, causing the real value of a dollar to decrease. In other words, $50 in 1955 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $485.60 in 2020, a difference of $435.60 over 65 years."
