Hello everyone,
Before introducing myself, I would like to thank the persons who have created this forum and all who have contributed to its contents. There are tons of very useful information in it for anyone needing it (including myself) !
I live in Eastern Canada and have been practicing Aikido many years ago. Probably like many, life, family, kids, work, etc. have taken me away from Aikido as well as an accident I had which left me with some limitations to my right wrist and shoulder. Now that the kids have grown and that I am having a bit more spare time, I have decided to take my Gi, Obi, Jo, Tanto and Bokken out of the dust. Back in the days, I had a Katana with which I used to practice with at home. It was a very unexpensive one and never tried to cut a thing with it.
Since I have decided to go back on the tatami, I have purchased a new katana, a Dragon King Lotus Seeds. I am aware that there are much better katanas in this world so it is with humility that I present it to you. I haven't found anything about it on the forum. May be someone did a review but I didn't find it.
Important note : Far from me the idea of writing an extensive review on it as I am not an expert (and my vocabulary may be too limited for such thing as I am a French speaking guy).
The overall construction is tight and fitttings are good. The blade is very sharp and seems to be made with a good material. At first, it seemed a bit heavy at the tip but I guess part of that feeling comes from the fact that I haven't trainned for a long time. Over the next months, this feeling will probably change. The katana come nicely into hands and all parts seem tight and well into place. The katana locks well in the saya. The saya doesn't seem to have a very tight fit all the way in as I can feel a little "wobbling" inside but just a little (I have to shake quite hard to feel it). If there are questions about this katana, please ask and I will try to respond to the best of my knowledge but I am sure that there are pros here that have a better knowledge of this katana than I !
Here are a few pictures of it
Have a great evening everyone !
Best regards,
Redgolden
