Been pouring over this for days now and still no closer to a decision on what to buy...I might even be farther from a decision than before I started looking! I'm looking to buy my first sword and really had no idea what I had gotten myself into! Hence the days of research lol. I do not practice martial arts, nor am I collector, this will very possibly be a one time deal for me. I do want something that is easy enough on the eyes to display, but I'd be lying outright if I tried to say I wouldn't play with it here and there. I have read enough to have a very very basic understanding of what to look for and have managed to narrow it down a bit. I've been very very tempted by the Musashi presentational swords, particularly this one:
musashiswords.com/shop/product.php?productid=87&cat=15&page=1
But I've seen varied reviews on the quality Musashi offers, and quite frankly I'm disappointed by the information (or rather, lack of) on their individual pieces on their website. I found the same exact sword for sale by True Swords, and they had a much more in depth description, even advertising it as a real hamon, and the details being gold and silver plating...strange the swords own manufacturer neglected to advertise these attributes, makes me wonder how honest those claims are.. I also cannot find a review done on these particular swords anywhere. Has anyone out there seen them first hand? And if so, being only 1045, am I likely to damage this if I occasionally use it for cutting?
The other I am seriously considering is the Cheness Tenchi:

A complete about face I know, but perhaps sacrificing the aesthetics to save myself from the depression, that would surely follow marking up that Musashi, could be a wise decision. Though it's simplictiy is still an appealing look. I've also looked at the Cheness 1060 Mokko with some interest as well. Any advice would be appreciated, as I do not know anyone who knows the first thing about this stuff, I'm really flying on a wing and a prayer here. Great forum and site here by the way, it has given me alot of direction and guidance already. My thanks in advance for replies!
