I received earlier today but only opened this about 45 minutes ago at which point Hazel called me. It is a one day (9 October?) deal. From MRL:
“Celebrate with 15% off Viking Gear!
Leif Erikson....the man who discovered America?
Centuries before Christopher Columbus was born, Leif Erikson is credited with setting foot in North America. Leif was the son of Erik the Red, the founder of the first European settlement on what is now called Greenland. Leif, according to the 13th-century Icelandic literature The Groenlendinga Saga, learned of a new land from Bjarni Herjólfsson, who had been storm-driven there en route to Greenland about 15 years earlier. Around 1000 CE Leif set out on an expedition and made three landfalls - at Helluland ( “Land of Flat Rocks”, possibly Labrador), Markland (“Land of Forests”, possibly Newfoundland), and Vinland (“Land of Wine”), where he described forests filled with building timber and wild grapes. Viking ruins found in 1963 in northern Newfoundland at L'Anse aux Meadows have lead archaeologists to believe that this was the site of Vinland. There, an 11th-century Viking settlement has excavated remains of wood-framed peat-turf buildings, similar to those found in Norse Greenland and Iceland.
No matter your beliefs, one thing is certain. TODAY ONLY you get 15% off everything in our Viking Section with code VIKING. Plus, you'll earn points on every order!
