voila asked to show off the PC Ninjato I redid for myself.
This was the second wrap I ever did, but for the record it was the first time I really tried to get it right.
I used silk in the color "Uahuna", it´s very close to white.
Because the tang is glued to the tsuka
I had to wrap the sword while it was still in the saya.
A little tricky but turned out to be no problem at all.
I fixed the saya wrapped in something to protect it
to the table and wrapped the tsuka.
I cut cardboard into triangles for hishigamis.
The wrap itself is quite tight, but it slips a little bit on the mune and ha side of the tsuka.
The next time I am going to use real paper hishigamis and
a little fixing tape on each side so it will stay tight!
The knot is a little variation do not get confused.
I reshaped the tsuka so now it has a nicer shape.
But I overdid it and had a little to much curvature.
I got it fixed and now it looks nice, though uneven.
It does feel very nice and enhances handling quality of the blade
such as speed and weightlessness.
I left out the menukis. The fake same was grayish. I do not understand why PC makes them gray.
It looks stupid. I took some black lacquer and applied a very thin coat et voilá
