Thanks for the review Kane. I must admit their 2020 model is lot improved over the older ones. I remember the one version with huge hilt. I think this might have comfortable sized hilt. I have owned one antique that had very small hilt, I could just barely squeeze my hand in that. That is nice video review in overall

How long is the grip from the disk to the cross?

I gotta admit my personally preference of throw the cut with rotation from the wrist makes me hate blade heavy swords, even light-weight ones. I like to cut from the shoulder, which cares much less about where the POB is. I did some cutting with a light point-heavy kampilan (POB about 8" iirc, a little under 500g), and it's somewhat similar to these dao.

In that case, I think even a PoB at 8” isn’t much of an issue. Also, I don’t think later period Chinese dao can get that light-weight, maybe Han dynasty infantry daos. kampilans are curious swords, wouldn’t mind adding one of those to my collection at certain point. Is your kampilan an antique?

Vintage rather than antique. Post-WWII.
Some late dao were quite light, including some military dao. I have a palace guard officer's dao, 520g (23" blade). Of course, that's a pretty thing for an officer, and not intended for use on the battlefield.

Dated to 1891 by the inscription. Rectangular-section Manchu style grip. Jade guard. Blade is 6.2mm at the hilt, 3mm mid-blade, and 2mm about 2" from the tip.

I guess I now have confirmation I could never squeeze my hands onto that grip. The only way I'll probably ever get a talwar I can actually use is to have one custom made. <frowny face>

My hands aren't small by anybody's definition. I'm kinda curious to see a photo of you, and anybody who thinks 3.5" isn't enough room, holding a ruler...

I'm a pretty large person, six and a half feet tall, and my hand is just under 4 and a half inches across (just over four inches across in a squished-in grip). Oddly, I have comparably narrow wrists, and any bracelet I can squeeze my hand through will flop around loosely on my wrist. The grip on the Albion Sovereign is just under four inches (3 15/16 inches), and it's small to the point of being uncomfortable (as far as a hammer or handshake style grip is concerned). I have to wear a thin glove when cutting/drilling with that sword, because the pommel presses uncomfortably into my palm otherwise. I can get around this by changing my grip to allow the pommel to slide along my palm.

You've only got be by a couple inches in height, but my closed fist is only a bit over 3 1/2". Specifically, according to my calipers, 3.66". I have knives with grips smaller than 3" I find comfortable enough.
Really need to get my hands into a talwar, though I'd prefer a pulwar, aesthetically...

My father is only six feet and two inches tall, but his hands significantly larger than mine, like almost an inch wider and the length of his finger are half an inch to almost a full inch longer than mine. I think my hands like normally proportionate on my frame, but you can casually look at my father's hands and recognize they disproportionately large. He doesn't have the weird slender wrist thing I'm rocking, but he pretty much can't find gloves which fit.

I have a tough time finding gloves that go over my hands but also fit all five fingers equally well. Hands are weird.
There's always Taksali or GGK, I guess, if you want a talwar but need a custom grip size...

It came. I like the sword but it does feel sort of dead when handling.
