So as some of you might know, I am a big fan of the elegant looking UV-protected display case form of displaying my swords. Recently I began a process of upgrading these displays with little accenting features. I've now taken to mounting hangers INSIDE the cases which has added an even nicer look: Now on to the next step. For my antiques I have begun a museum-like plaque project to do some small info bits on each blade describing smith, era, etc of each piece. In pursuit of this I thought I would share the company I am using for this. They specialize in plate engraving and I have found them to be extremely helpful and their prices are very nice for custom work. www.laserengravedmemories.comIf anyone is looking for nice little plates these guys are great. Just thought I would share.

Looks awesome. The plaques sound like a great idea. Pics when you get them.

Looks awesome. The plaques sound like a great idea. Pics when you get them. Absolutely! The first batch are going to be for the Japanese swords and at the moment I am working on getting a good fidelity format for them that supports both English and the Japanese kanji in a good looking calligraphy type kanji font. My PDF creator seems to be having some difficulty working with two encodings simultaneously. Once I get the first round of plates in though, I absolutely will share!

Great idea but IMHO, the hangers are too detailed/complicated and take away from he visual inspection of the swords...I would opt for a more simple, smaller approach... Just my honest opinion.
Someone not familiar with swords might think at a glance, the hangers are part of the cross...

Someone not familiar with swords might think at a glance, the hangers are part of the cross... Yeah... Sadly I could not find ones to my liking that were stable enough to my liking but simple. But yes I do agree they are more ornate than I was initially going for. The hangers that ship WITH the cases however were awful (they were just rubber covered steel guitar hangers)...
