What would you guys suggest? Hanwei makes some really nice inexpensive entry level medieval swords. You might look there?

For a good advice we need more information. What do you want or imagine? Historical accuracy? Good handling? Good looks? Movies/TV etc.? Budget?

Im looking more for good handling, budget, and historical accuracy. I dont really care for looks and movies. The budget is not really important but i am looking for good quality and decent cost.

What are you planning to do with it? Do you want a blunt for sparring/training or a sharp for cutting?

The above is really good advice.
You can also do what I did - buy the first thing you find that’s within your budget that really catches your eye.
You’ll buy plenty more swords later anyway. 🙂
I still really like my first sword - a handsome, well built $100 liuyedao. It can’t compare to my later acquisitions in specs or value, but it was what I really wanted at the time, and it still holds an honored place in my collection.
Good hunting!

My advice is to look at the Kult of Athena site, find a few swords you like and ask if they are good swords.

I only have experience with Regenyei’s feders, which handle smoothly, are built very well, and have a good eye towards aesthetics. That said, based on photos, their sharps look like they’d be incredible deals for the money. As I’ve only handled their training weapons, I can’t entirely vouch for their sharps, but I can’t imagine they’d make such good feders and terrible sharps. They also produce some obscure pieces I really like.
My advice would be watch a bunch of reviews and look at a bunch of photos. I can say for certain my tastes have greatly changed after staring at swords for thousands of hours. Certain things stand out in the beginning but get boring to look at after seeing a bunch of different swords. Pinterest is great for looking at a ton of swords.
How do you imagine the sword feeling or making you feel? Answering that question will help a lot of us give better suggestions. Simple one word answers are great. Powerful. Quick. Elegant. Brutal. Scary. Comforting. Etc.
Good luck! I’ve sold about 40% of the swords I’ve bought. At this point I know what I like and don’t like or just sorta like. Everyone’s different. One day I hope you get to experience the joy of having someone ask what first sword they should buy!

Kult of Athena is a good place to start as recommended!
Hanwei and windlass are great entries into 2 handed swords.
If the arbedo was still available they are good. Towton. I think windlass still has 2 handed bastard sword on that site.

I'd also recommend the Ronin Katana Euro line. It's actually really good for the price and the handling (except for their Crusader) is very good.

I'd highly recommend a Windlass or maybe a Del Tin. Good, many reasonably historically accurate, but if you're still a young teen and it's your first, regardless of parental permission, you really shouldn't be playing around with a "fully" sharp blade yet. Windlasses and Del Tins "unsharpened" still have a 2mm or so edge, and can be used on things like thin-walled water/milk jugs, paper cartons, soda cans--quite a lot actually, for some good cutting practice. Plus you can always add a razor sharp edge later. (Or later even learn how to sharpen by doing it yourself!) In fact, as a weapon against someone *else* an "unsharpened" Windlass or Del Tin is probably about as lethal as a fully sharpened one. But as you get your form and handling down, the advantage is that you are far, far less likely to inadvertantly cut "yourself", and that's a pretty good thing. It's really too bad the Windlass Schoss Erbach is hard to come by atm. I have a feeling you'd love one of those! These Del Tins are a teensy bit pricey, but might be really god bets. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=DT2146BR&name=Del+Tin+14th+Century+Hand+and+a+Half+Sword+%2D+Brownwww.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=DT5140&name=Del+Tin+Hand+And+A+Half+Sword(a big boy) www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=DT6167&name=Del+Tin+Hand+and+a+Half+SwordAnd if you might splurge, an Albion Squire Line could be worth it: www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/squire/sword-squire-warsword-MII.htmwww.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/squire/sword-squire-bastard.htm
