Hello, I'm new to this site and made an account looking for advice on my first high quality sword as well as a scabbard. i was browsing Kult of Athena and came across two that caught my eye, both are made by very reputable people but I can't seem to decide.
P.S. I am still new to sword buying, but know enough to know what to avoid for the most part.
The first being the Lockwood sl1004SETA, the second being the Albion Ringeck. I know both are made by very talented people but I'm having a rough time deciding on which is the better purchase. I'm also aware that the sl1004SETA and the Ringeck are two different kinds of swords the sl1004SETA being a type XVI, and the Ringeck being a type XVa.
I would be more than happy with either of them but the Ringeck is $880 USD (plus however much the custom scabbard i would get would be) and the sl1004SETA is $1,700USD with a scabbard. (I'm not at all opposed to ordering a custom scabbard btw.)
The next thing I'm stuck on is the wait time. The Lockwood is only a 5-6 month wait time, whereas the Albion could exceed a year. Albion seem to make very incredible swords, but is the wait worth it in comparison to the Lockwood if it is of a similar quality to the Albion.
The final thing I'm caught up on is the lack of reviews on the sl1004SETA. I've seen plenty of reviews for Stephen Lockwood's other swords and I was blown away by all of them, but non for the sl1004SETA specifically. Where as with the Ringeck, I've seen reviews and know exactly what i would be getting. If there is anyone with the sl1004SETA who could chime in i would be eternally grateful.
So here'y my predicament (and a TL:DR)-
-What should i go with for my first high quality sword?
-The Lockwood sl1004SETA: Sword and scabbard for $1,700 and a 5-6 month wait. I have general knowledge of the quality but nothing super specific.
-The Albion Ringeck: Just the sword for $880 (custom scabbard would add around $1600-$1800 from DBK or Christian Fletcher and around $700 from Tod's Workshop). I have both general knowledge of the quality and the specifics.
All feedback is appreciated, thanks for reading!
