Im wondering if anyone has removed some mass off a BKS longsword? I really like the HNH I have but the thing is very heavy, right at 3lbs 14oz. Any suggestions on reducing the weight?

I did a project once reducing the weight on a BKS katzbalger. Took me 8 or 10 hours with my 2x72 grinder to get it to a reasonable and historic level. BUT, this was a blunt stage sword that the owner wanted to convert to a sharp. The hilt fittings were welded in place which made working on the blade that much more difficult. Can you remove your hilt easily or is it welded?

Me too, but on a 28" Imacasa machete. Weighting handle lowers swing weight. Drilling holes is easiest. Cutting width of blade most obvious. Maintaining or creating distal thickness pretty work intensive. Getting more fit thru practice the easiest. I'm working on the latter, but at 71, getting hard to achieve.
