I’m wanting to learn eastern archery (thumb draw, Slavic release, speed shooting, etc). I’ve decided to first learn on 30 pounder and then once I learn the form, develop technique, and “get good”, then bump it up to 40 or 45 pounds maybe 50 at most (chiropractor’s orders - nothing over 50 lbs (I have severe scoliosis 😒).
So I looked at beginner horse bows, I’m choosing to start fiberglass so I can get used to step-through stringing method without having to worry about fracturing or splitting the limbs. Yes I know fiberglass can still break, but I’d feel more comfortable and confident bending fiberglass than I would bending wood - at least until I get the hang of step-through. Once I get good on the fiberglass only then would I switch over to a legit laminate composite. Also kinda gives me an incentive to practice, “go get good so you can get a REAL bow!” 🤦♂️ probably something from AF, AliBow, or Grozer. I really like the Hungarian style siyahs.
Anyway, I looked at beginner fiberglass horse bows, but not really a fan of “leather wrapped limbs”. Not sure why they’re wrapped in pigskin or cow leather. Seems kinda gimmicky to me. Although I did find this that seems like it would be alright for first timers to learn on...

I just have a few quick questions.
1. The siyahs look like they’re epoxied on and then wrapped with a bit of cord for decoration. How secure would the siyahs be? I’d hate them to slip out mid-shot 😳
2. What about the string nocks? They look awfully close to the tips, maybe too close? Most bows I’ve seen have em an inch or so closer to the riser...Or is it still okay having them that far out?
3. They nocks also look really tight. I’ve never seen a bow with nocks that small. Would there be any risk of the string snagging during release and thus degrading the shot or possibly even slipping out?
4. I wouldn’t trust any bow, or at least not one this cheap, with the “stock” string. Would this be able to take a Dacron or any other aftermarket string?
5. You should be okay to use both wood or carbon arrows, right? Provided they’re the correct weight, grains, spine etc, right?
