Hello, I've gotten several hints that I should expect the handle wrapping of my first sword (musashi dadao) to be a bit loose to the extent of sliding around. This seems very unsafe and kind of ungainly. Although I was unable to find it again, it seems there was some way to treat this problem and make the wrap much more secure. It may have involved lacquer, but as I said, I couldn't find it and couldn't get the search to work properly. Thanks for any help.

The lacquering of the wrap is mostly used on japanese swords, it should work on any sword, but it can make the grip very uncomfortable. Its hard to make out how this sword is actually wrapped? I'd say wait until you get it and it is indeed loose, then it will be easier to discuss the different options available to you.

Use super glue, a drop on each fold and a drop on each knot.

I have a silly thought,.... You know how fabrics shrink sometimes in a drying machine... Would it be possible to go over the tsuakito with a hair dryer moving it very fast and evenly up and down each side to try and shrink the material somewhat? I doubt that this would be feasible, but its an interesting thought none the less.....
