Since I'm ordering my first sword and don't know such things, is a signature required when the package arrives? Thanks in advance for any help.

Generally it's suppose to...however, my last two sword shipments were just dropped off.

It depends on the shipper, and what they set up as delivery terms, in the last year I've gotten 4 or 5 swords not one had to be signed for. Check with the person you are buying it from and see how they ship , if you have it insured chances are you will need to sign.

depends on who is dropping it off. Lots of UPS people or in the case of true swords I believe they use fedex the driver will sign the tablet and leave it at the front door. YOu can sign a waiver with most companys so you dont have to sign.

I don't recall having to sign for a sword, but I've had to sign for other things. If you're worried about not being there when they deliver, it's standard for delivery services (and USPS, I believe, though don't quote me on that)) to make three attempts to deliver (usually consecutive days or Monday and Tuesday if you miss 'em on a Friday.
