Very nice! Warhammers are also very handy when you've got some furniture to dismantle.

Dear BN, How do you get the brains and icky bits out of your flange mace? Asking for a friend.

Here it is with one of my concubines inside it. I guess that's why it's been so difficult to find Slovakian lady's maids (don't ask, I have very specific "needs").

You just reminded me I have to invest in some sort of bludgeon. Any recommendations for a man on a budget? How are the windlass ones? I'm thinking something that has a wooden shaft, maybe something that would be similar to a trench club
And to answer what for? Zombies, skeleton army, coconuts etc mostly coconuts, as they have killed my father and now they must die

That's not a bad idea. It would be cheaper to ship, I bet. I think I'll look into their work

I just placed an order with Adam Thiele for one of his francisca axe heads. I've been thinking about pairing a francisca-style axe head with a longer (30-36 inches / 76-92 cm) haft. I already own one with a traditional curved throwing haft, and I've thought for a long time that that style of head was ideally suited for close quarter melee combat. The price was very reasonable, and a long haft will provide me a sizable "canvas" to ornately decorate. I'm thinking of using a lighter hardwood, like ash, to keep the weight down. American hickory is nice, but it would add too much mass on to a weapon I want to be nimble and lightning quick.

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

MAN, I love the look of that Tod Cutler! I may need to pick up one of those! I see Deepeeka has another option on that one: www.kultofathena.com/product/14th-century-da-carrara-beast-warhammer/I recently got the Deepeeka Italian 14th Century warhammer. Not as advertised, so I'm reluctant to plunk down more cash for another Deepeeka item which may only bear a moderate resemblance to the actual item I want... Instead of a dragon or beast they might send something with a pink pig or fuzzy kitten on the end, which would certainly reduce the coolness factor.

Looking at the Deepeeka Dragon hammer... I think it looks very decent actually. I believe that it looks like a very good attempt at bringing that antique reproduction to the masses at a more reasonable price. The Tod models are a more "premium" option as such. When I saw your post about your disappointing experience with your hammer it immediately reminded me of my thread. I think you might have liked a similar priced windlass option like the German model for example. It has that gothic touch. Yeah, hindsight is 20/20. I saw the cheapo price on the Deepeeka, figured "What can go wrong?" and went with it...and the rest is unfortunate history. I have the Windlass Crusader Axe which is really nice, so at some point I may upgrade this one to a Windlass or Tod Cutler if I'm feeling extra extravagant!
I'm thinking I may sand the one I have and stain the handle darker so it's the color I want. I can also buy some gold or copper colored metallic enamel paint for the rivets and do some touch up.

I have the English war hammer and German mace by Windlass. Both nice weapons. The mace is slightly heavier and I think the ear hammer just looks a little bit more badass.
Also, the mace came very, very slightly off line at the junction of the handle and shaft. Unless you were very closely inspecting it for flaws you wouldn’t notice it. It doesn’t affect the application of the weapon at all, though. Edge alignment isn’t really a concern and I’m not liable to be coming up against anyone in plate harness any time soon.
