I have splurged for disappointment. I bought a Masahiro Kill Bill katana, which is only wirth 80$, for like 180$. Man, did I regret it.

I still don't understand why someone would want to get rid of a sword that was hard to sharpen?! I would venture to say you either have real crap that won't even form a burr or you have a REALLY nice sword. The whole "easy to sharpen thing in the sword and knife world is so counter intuitive to everything else. Besides, if you are using a diamond hone, the ahrdest steel you'll probably ever encounter is like 62-63 rockwell, last time I looked diamonds are 80 or 90, so there is no way any steel could stand up to a diamond hone. I thought the Rockwell hardness only went up to 68?
