I only posted this thread as a tongue in cheek posting and wasn't expecting any serious offers. It was my intent to get others to tell about their problem swords, sort of a hair letting down excercise. Let's hear your stories about frustrating swords...OK? You may want to change the title then. Save for other people getting exited like I did.

Sometimes you just get a poorly tempered piece of steel that will not take an edge for anything-unfortunately when we buy the bargain bin blades we gets what we pays for-most likely you got one of the lemons-even with higher price swords you get an occasional clunker.
Good thing you did NOT pay an arm and a leg for the sword-but was it sharp when you bought it? Did you try to send it back for a replacement?
Reason I ask, I am not familiar with Mushashi swords per se-Paul has reviewed a couple with mixed results, but both blades cut fairly well if memory serves, but I do not know if they have a return policy or customer service that will take good care of their customers...maybe Paul can shed some light on that?

I mentioned in my thread that I have a katana by Musashi which I will sell to someone if they pay shipping and give a promise to pay. The operative word here folks is PROMISE to pay! I bought this katana for $54.00 from Real Armory of God which advertised it as originally selling for $135.00 . It just will not sharpened for me. Maybe someone else...just not me! Anyone every have a frustrating sword like this...I'm sure you have splurged for a sword sometime and got a.... . source of frustration...am I right? I'm sure it is already spoken for, but what were the conditions? You say "Free" if you pay the shipping, but then say "Promise to pay"? Are you selling it, or giving it away?

He expects you to pay for it. This thread is a joke. Really?... a joke like "ha ha"? or a joke like "misleading"? I think its funny that he mentioned "i'll bet you guys have splurged for a sword and ended up with a piece of junk".... Key word here is splurged... if $54 is "splurging" then you may want to find a cheaper hobby? hehehe

actually I can honestly say that having $60 to just toss out is splurging. Being a student and on my own working at a gas station money is usually pretty tight. That said there's no way I would give it up. It just means that my blades come fewer and farther between. I still love them though

Which musashi is it? If its one of their $60 katanas, you're getting exactly that - a $60 katana, so don't expect the best. They will probably not cut tatami very well, if at all, and thats to be expected.

Thanks for the edit Jimdangello. I asure you it was not my intent to misrepresent anything.
But I feel I should say a word in my own defense. If I had really intended to sell or give the sword away I would have listed it in the classified ads. There is such a thing as puffing which the title was meant to do. As MOST people know there is no free lunch these days and contests with prizes are just gimmicks. As I stated to Shootermike, I wanted to send to the katana to him and he could ship the sword to Master if he felt that it could not be sharpened provided Master paid for shipping. No controversy or disrespect to anyone was intended. Master did offer me $20.00 which read like additional payment over shipping. I simply asked for $10.00 more which is good bargaining. Yes, I have his private messages to prove it!
On the positive side your edit of the title of my thread should clear up any misunderstanding. Thank you.

Some actual proper blades have been given away on these forums before, so its not really that unlikely.

No problem,... i hate having to edit anything as a mod unless its really needed. The title would have very likely caused at least 2 or 3 more misunderstandings as there are often people who will give free swords away because they either just don't want them anymore, or they want to grab some karma and show some love to those of us who don't have many swords or money to buy them. Thanks for understanding!

I have a $60 Musashi. I purchased it several years ago. Then it was more than $60, but I digress. It sharpened up just fine after some elbow grease and proper polishing technique. Due to it being so blunt I had to change the angle of the Ji some to not move the Shinogi and change the appearance of the blade. After that it cut just fine for what it is. I accept it's imperfections and quite enjoy cutting with it from time to time.
I do agree with SpeaKtree's comment fully. A $60 Katana from Musashi is a $60 Katana from Musashi.

I still don't understand why someone would want to get rid of a sword that was hard to sharpen?! I would venture to say you either have real crap that won't even form a burr or you have a REALLY nice sword. The whole "easy to sharpen thing in the sword and knife world is so counter intuitive to everything else. Besides, if you are using a diamond hone, the ahrdest steel you'll probably ever encounter is like 62-63 rockwell, last time I looked diamonds are 80 or 90, so there is no way any steel could stand up to a diamond hone.
