The story behind this test cut: Due to the recent dojo visits test cutting used Japanese tatami mats, I once again experienced the super high requirement of sharpness of such target media. Anything with an edge slightly more robust would encounter significant resistance. That made me consider whether I should reprofile all my swords again.
Finally I decided to cut realistic targets and see how it went before taking the dive into the sharpening hell. In addition, since straight sword did not slice as good as curved sword, I performed this test with all straight swords. I also cut with the tip to show I can cut the target even with the very tip.
In the end each of the sword with the edge that could take on bone, went through the clothing layer and cut the target completely. Sadly I lost all the footage of the third target where I cut it with No Remorse. Thus I picked some left over targets and make 2 cuts with the sword as a record.
This test proved once more that the "bone capable" edge is sharp enough for realistic targets even with clothing. So that saved me from lots of reprofile effort.

Nice demo. I too experimented with tip cuts recently and was surprised. I wish to go back and try it with clothing simulated. Your cuts are more powerful. Mine were intended to come from a flick of the wrist as they come fast with no telegraphing and I believe will work on exposed areas such as face and neck. I'll go back at the first opportunity and see if I can penetrate clothing.

You should still be able to get through clothing if you landed ur cuts with tip. The point will rip the clothing open, if the edge didn't cut through. :)

Very nice cuts. More evidence that swords don't need to be "razor" sharp to cut well.

Fantastic display of swordsmanship, excellent cutting. Thanks for sharing! Thanks Markus! It was a shame that I lost the footage of one of the swords' cutting, leaving me with 2 "free standing targets" cuts only. Sigh.
