I bought this sword for my son at an auction. It has the original owners name on it. Not sure what it is worth or if it a legit sword from that time period. If anyone can help me that would be great. Thanks in advance Kristy

Welcome aboard
This is a Masonic Sir Knights Templar sword.
With the name and date in hand, finding information about the fellow may turn up something interesting.
These are plentiful, so value is pretty much what one may pay for it. If you search ebay for knights templar swords and look at sold items, you'll get an idea of interest.
Somewhere at the base of the blade will be the retailer's name.
Cheers GC

As far as whether this sword is "legit" the short answer is mostly no.
This piece would have been presented to Mr. Weidler to commemorate either him joining the Free Masons, or gaining some sort of rank within their hierarchy. It would have been intended to be carried during particular ceremonies.
This piece is NOT a sword intended to duel or cut anything with. It is probably more robust than a modern "wall hanger" sword that's made with a stainless steel blade and "rat tail tang" but not by much. I could be wrong, but I doubt the blade is properly heat treated or tempered. The tang may or may not be "peened" or otherwise properly secured in the hilt. I don't know but I wouldn't risk swinging it around.
If your son wants to wear this as part of a costume for theater or for attending Renaissance Festivals, great! I say go for it! It looks quite nice. It would also not be a bad thing to hand on the wall as decoration. It looks much better than the majority of "wall hangers" you can find on the market today.
Finally, this piece is NOT suitable for the following activities: - Do NOT cut ANYTHING with this sword! Not even water bottles in the back yard! - Do NOT use this for any type of marital art - Do NOT use this for staged combat in theater
