I have decided to try and post my progress on my first real sword. I hope that there are no objections to this. I will say that I have decided on the sword and accoutrement's that I will have added to it. I have decided on the Generation 2 Medieval Norman Sword which I will be purchasing from Arms of Valor. I will have it shipped from there to DBK Custom Swords for the accouterments. At the end this two hundred dollar sword will cost me about five hundred, more or less. I LOVE CUSTOMIZATIONS! It will take several months to build my funds for it, but with your support (emotional and verbal nothing else is asked) I can get it done in time for my birthday. I hope. <.< The additions I hope to be are the following: twist wrap in green suede squire scabbard cover in green suede 2 point suspension system with belt in green suede (if I can get the suspensions in black and belt in green that would be cooler) pommel decor "J" scabbard decor "J" Tell me what you think as well. I am open to suggestions, except changing the colours to red.

You probably could have done a lot worse than a gen2, so gratz on your first real sword being a good one! Brian does some great work, I'm sure you'll be happy with it Just be prepared that this will not be your last sword. Don't even try to convince yourself that you'll not buy anymore, you're wrong. You'll end up with 6 or 7 at least ;D

XP I made this decision based on price and looks. I favour green over any other colour so that was ano brainer to me. The most difficulty came from deciding what sword and decors to choose. As I said, though it will take several months to accumulate the funds needed, but I will get it. Unless someone wants to lend me five hundred dollars and accept twenty-five dollar payments every week. LOL

Tiger, I have considered this sword from time to time and probably would have bought it if I could have found it in stock when I was in buying mode. Although I'm a bit leery of Gen2 now to be honest.

I am open to suggestions, except changing the colours to red. I would recommend the high-end grip in green, over the twist wrap. It will look pretty close to the green suede. I can do the suspension system in any combination of colors, but no suede. It's oak tanned cowhide. Last but not least, this could be an opportunity for me to introduce a 2-point suspension system for those shorter swords. My current configuration doesn't suit shorter swords well. So we'll have to see. I'll make it cool, that's all that matters!

Brian I may be totally off, but I haven't seen a 2 point suspension for short swords before. Not to say it's not accurate, I just can't recall seeing one.

That isn't what I meant. I meant to say, I need to introduce suspension systems for short swords. I'll do something like the integral suspension.

It is a longer sword. Would it work without any extra effort or out of historical context work? As I stated earlier, my choices were decided also based on costs. Of course, ten dollars is not that big of a difference for the higher end wrap. As for the "suede" I was going by how it was displayed on your site. <.< Just for reference here are the measurements: Blade length: 34.5" Handle/Hilt length: 8.5" Overall: 43"
