By actually recreate a Hidden Hilt Dao, did the sword master find out how precise was the hilt construction and how well it need to be made to have the sword functional. This Dao is for fighting against heavy armored opponents at the time (Northern Dynasty) and it need to be very compact, sturdy and the wood handle need to fit the tang very well to fully distribute the full force of heavy impact.
Important and often unseen aspects for recreating a historically correct real sword while a decorative pieces need to worry about such concerns
