A very good and important contribution to the sword community. I really like the stuff Hugh T. Knight puts out. Many thanks for sharing.

That’s a valuable and interesting article. I hear very little in regards to shields and yet regard it as important as my sword in my kit.

That’s a valuable and interesting article. I hear very little in regards to shields and yet regard it as important as my sword in my kit. Shield combat interests me but outside of getting slapped around with broadsword+targe I have never trained in any of it. It was much more difficult than I envisioned. Bucklers are something I want to get into next though.

Awesome read so far. I always like seeing things that expand on or highlight Sword and Shield combat.
Now, I haven’t taken a single HEMA class yet, so obviously this is subject to being proven the opposite later; but I suspect I’d prefer fighting/sparring with a Heater as opposed to a Buckler in pairing with an Arming Sword. Though, like you said, it’s gotta be tough. Regardless though, I appreciate seeing this system getting more attention, because in my recent consumption of HEMA videos it seemed that Sword & Buckler is the main game in town (I.33 prevalence, etc.)
Could be a complete misapprehension on my part, though.

And having been fortunate to stumble across those 3 videos you linked above a little bit ago, gotta say all 3 were great to watch. Frederico’s channel is awesome across the board, from what I’ve seen so far.
