Query on a potentially cursed sword i found in my basement.

Hi guys; sorry for the lack of knowledge; I am a complete dummy when it comes to swords. I am just looking for closure from any expert who knows much about swords and curses etc. Firstly i would like to mention that I am not a superstitious person and believe strongly in religion and the power of god etc. however, this story is to do with my personal experiences and not religion etc.
So it starts off around a year ago in February 2019 when we found an online advert for a 6 bedroom house. My family and I decided to move in after the viewing because of its convenient location and ridiculously cheap price. The house was an old Victorian style house and is located in England, United Kingdom. Long story short; everything was fine and we were happy with the purchase until 6 months later around August when we decided our new beloved home needed a modern look; we decided to renovate our new home and this included the basement.
Whilst in the basement, I found two swords. One of which was unbelievably heavy and contradicted my perception of what I thought a sword would weigh and feel like. It most definitely weighed at least 12kg; it's sheath was also heavy and it took many attempts to unsheathe the sword as I believe it was definitely pushed as far down as it could go by somebody. When I unsheathed it, there was what seemed to be dry glue on the end as if the previous owner didn't want anyone unsheathing it; the sword was also painted over with a metallic and shiny grey colour. Meanwhile, the second sword was a dull silver looking sword which was rusted and rather light in the hand. There are several circular like patterns on the sword and it had a very cheap feel and its sheathe was also cheap; as if it were made by an amateur.
Anyhow; i contacted the previous owners of the home (an elderly couple), who has been living in this very home for 60 years. They both told me that they had never been into the basement in their lives and told us to keep the swords. However, i heard one whisper quietly "tell them the truth! tell them the truth about its curse", to which the phone call abruptly ended. I found it rather odd but didn't think much of it. A few days later, my wife thought the swords looked beautiful in their sheathes and decided to hang them up on the wall as the brown colour of the sheathes complimented the walls.
Ever since that night incredibly unusual and terrifying experiences have occurred in our home. For example; over the course of many months since we found the sword; a family friend's dog (husky) would start howling non-stop whenever they visited out home. Furthermore, there was an unusual behavior of black cats which seem to sit outside my door everyday morning at around 7am and stare through our front door. I also find dead birds in my garden some mornings for some strange reason. However, the most horrific and disturbing events occur at night when a very aggressive scratching sound on the walls of my home can be heard as well as the sounds of some sort of heavy animal or person sprinting up and down the tiles of our roof, the tiles can clearly be heard moving places. Sometimes its a slow movement as if something up there is picking the tiles up and misplacing them. I've checked my roof more times than i can count to see if the tiles are scattered around but everything seems to be in place.
I tried to contact the previous owners of the home but their phone number no longer exists, although it's illegal, i contacted their phone providers and claimed my phone sim is no longer working and claimed i needed a new one ordered. I was able to do this as several letters intended for them had come to this address. I only did this as I was desperate for answers. Anyhow, i was told by the phone provider that my contract was terminated on 'August 7th' and that I haven't been paying any bills since then. August 7th was the exact same date which i first contacted the previous couple and was told to keep the swords. I was mortified and sick to my stomach.
Several moths later I set up CCTV outside the house. However, sometime in January this year, the heavy sword just went missing out of the blue. No explanation. No breakage or forced entry into our home, as if the sword just vanished. I wish that I had also set up CCTV inside the house too. I initially suspected my wife had something to do with it as i believed she was spooked by the discussions we had about the swords and the curse they have but she promised me she didn't touch it. I believe her because i'm sure if she did throw it away due to its curse, she would throw both swords away, not just one.
In February 2020 someone suggested that perhaps the house is haunted and not the sword, so i decided to give the sword to a very close friend of mine to look after for a while, I informed them of the potential curse. He laughed and agreed to take the sword. around 3 months later, he contacted me and told me to take the sword back. Two of his daughters were diagnosed as clinically schizophrenic and his wife had a miscarriage, his dog which always howled when it came to our home was found dead near the local canal. He told me to never contact him again. I am now convinced the sword is cursed. I thought due to this whole corona virus, i have some time on my hand and I should look for answers which led me to a google search "sword forum". This was the first link I clicked on to share my experience. I hope someone can perhaps enlighten me on the circumstances faced.
